Bridesmaid Dresses and Suits versus Tuxedos

I've almost got the bridesmaid dress problem sorted out. I think I've narrowed down my choices to 3 dresses, with the help of MOH. Since BM Emily is visiting from Toronto this week-end, I am going to put her to work to look at those 3 dresses and see what she thinks.

Arg! It's such a hard decision!

And tonight, Wade & I are going to start looking at suits/tuxedos. I'm sure we won't decide tonight, but we have to start somewhere! I'm still not sure what look I want (dark grey suit versus black tuxedo) because I like both so much. So we need to make Wade try on some suits & tuxedos for me! I think he's partial to tuxedos, based on what he's said, but even within the realm of tuxedos there are many options.

You should post pictures of your bridesmaid dress options, because I'm very curious! (If you haven't already. If you have, you should direct me to the post!)

AmyJean - me, too, but I think Wade has his heart set on wearing a tux! (I'm dead serious, too.)

Jest - I haven't posted them - I couldn't find them all on-line. I think they're the "spring" line, which may explain the delay in posting them on the manufacturer's website. I'll try to remember to take my camera on Saturday!

Good luck with the tux and suits. It was interesting when we went and I left it all up to my fiance (he's wearing it after all) but the sales ladied kept asking me what they should get.

Hell I know nothing about lapel size or if the back should be pleated or not.

What does Wade like? Tuxs are very Bond, James Bond. But a classic suit is also very appealing...

M - He likes the "Bond" look ... but that might actually be that he likes the James Bond movies! :) I agree, the classic suit is appealing.

blablover5 - I'm going to make him try on a bunch of different styles (hell, maybe he'll like a morningsuit!). Then he can decide. But I bet I'll be asked what I think, just like you were.

Choosing bridesmaid dresses was one of my hardest decisions! Color, style, price... I had way different body types to consider, and feelings I didn't want to hurt. It was tough. Originally I wanted champagne colored dresses, but my sisters vetoed that because they though the color washed them out. Then it was style. I loved the empire waisted dress that they ended up wearing (go see the slideshow, they were Alfred Angelo), but my sister in law really really didn't like it. So, that's how I ended up with 2 dress styles in the same color. I think taking your bridesmaids shopping with you is probably the best thing you can do. If you have a few options that you like, then let them make the decision.

I agree, though, with Jest - it'd be really cool to see what you're considering!!

L always assumed he'd wear a tux. Lately, I've seen such beautiful weddings of guys in suits. So, I've tried to convince him to be open-minded. We haven't yet scouted options, but I'm excited to see what L likes best.

It sounds like Wade likes the tux. That's awesome!

We are going the dark grey suit route. It still looks very formal, but it is a bit more relaxed without the tuxedo stripe and satin lapels, etc. Not that I can complain about a hot guy in a tux!

Hmm ... love that look, Cyd. And Carly, I agree - open-minded is good.
