... I truly looooooove December

I truly do.

It's the best month.

We have Christmas, when (excepting the crowded malls) everyone is happy, and we spend time with our loved ones - family and friends.

We also have Boxing Day, which is the day after Christmas in Canada (and other parts of the British Commonwealth). On Boxing Day, it used to be rest and relax day, where you could go out and play in the snow (assuming it's a white Christmas) then watch the start of the World Juniors hockey tournament. Get your energy up for the next day, the "Boxing Day" sales (it used to be illegal for stores to open on Boxing Day, so the "Boxing Day" sales were on December 27th). Until around 1996, when malls could open on Boxing Day, so you'd get up, go shopping early, then collapse and spend the rest of the day recovering. Now Boxing Day sales are actually Boxing Week sales. So (unless something's going on sale that you want and is limited quantities), Boxing Day is back to rest and relax day, go out and play in the snow (assuming it's a white Christmas) and watch the start of the World Juniors hockey tournament. That's a great tournament.

And we have New Year's Eve, a time when we celebrate the new year by paying ridiculously high cover prices, then pay ridiculous prices for the drinks, then pay ridiculous prices (and wait ridiculously long) to get a cab home. Or (our preference) we stay in and have a dinner party or watch t.v.!

But those are all at the end of the month ... what about the rest of the month?

Well, the Saturday before (or sometimes two Saturdays before, like this year), my parents always have a very fun Christmas party.

But that's still the middle or end of the month. What until then? (Beside crowded malls.)

Well, that's what my birthday is for! Yay! (It's next Tuesday the 9th.) December is one big happy-fest for me. And I love it!

Oh, and I love ice cream cakes, too. Yeah, it's below 0C and I want ice cream. Yum.

I am a huge sucker for ice cream cake! It's the best...cold or no cold!

I also agree. December is fabulous! I am also with you on the dinner party for New Years thing...it really always sounds SO much more appealing than fighting the crowds out on the town.

No December birthday for me though, I am an April baby!

I love December too! I love snow. My friends think I'm nuts. We just had our first snow here in Chicago. My best friend's birthday is in December too. I will remember to wish you a Happy Birthday!!

Ice cream cakes rules. It's all I ever want for my birthday.

December is a great month, especially for reflecting on those things that are important to you.

So we're agreed. Ice cream cake rocks. And December is great (minus the crowded mall). :)

Can I add my name to the 'people who love December list'. And yay for Boxing Day. I thought everyone had Boxing Day, shows what I know!
