Veils?

This is a question that so many brides before me have thought about. The veil. It's no longer required for brides to wear a veil, but many appreciate the tradition, or love the way it completes the bridal outfit. Others find the veil an unnecessary accessory. It's the quintessential decision: to veil or not to veil.

Frankly, I don't think a veil makes a bride, but it's how you feel. And if the veil is la pièce de résistance that is needed for the bride to complete her outfit, wear it. And if you just like the way a veil looks, then wear it. If you don't want a veil, then don't. It's that simple to me!

I personally like love the look of veils. Not for the tradition, which is hiding the bride from her unsuspecting groom until the moment they first met at the altar. I love the mystery and the aura created by a veil. I love the longest (cathedral length) and shortest (birdcage) of veils as my favourite. Typical for me - indecisive.

Here are some lovely pictures of veils.

Fingertip length veils, currently the most popular length amongst brides:

I totally adore the birdcage, so chic and grown up, but I guess it depends on your dress.
